The Panama City Garden Club has been organizing the Azalea Trail in the Scarlett O Hara tradition of pageantry for 43 years. This year's Azalea Trail on March 21 promises to be bigger and better than before.
Steere encourages girls to embrace their feminine side if only for one day. Southern belles might breech the event to get their girlie girl on, but they can be awarded in scholarship money for strapping on their feminine guiles.
Participants must be 15 to 18 years old and exemplify the traditions of the Azalea Trail Queen.
In the second round of competition, the girls are asked more rigorous questions to uncover their innate character and then five finalists vie for the crown of Azalea Queen.
